Glass-Forming Ability, Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Properties of Zr60−<i>x</i>Al15Ni25TM<i>x</i> (TM = Nb and Ta) Bulk Metallic Glasses
Abstract:The thermal stability, glass-forming ability (GFA), corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of Zr 60¹x Al 15 Ni 25 TM x (TM = Nb and Ta, x = 06) bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) were investigated. The added Nb and Ta greatly increase the glass transition temperature of the base BMG whereas reduce the supercooled liquid region. Minor addition of Nb enhances the GFA of the base alloy, and Zr 56 Al 15 Ni 25 Nb 4 BMG exhibits the largest critical diameter of 20 mm. Additions of Nb and Ta efficiently improve the… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
