Glaukom und Augenkurbehandlungen in Bad Hall — Eine retrospektive Studie

Abstract

Zusammenfassung.Bei 299 Augen von 160 Glaukompatienten, die eine Augeniontophorese-Therapie zusammen mit allgemeinen Kurbehandlungen in Bad Hall durchführten, wurden die Augendruckwerte vor und nach den Anwendungen unter standardisierten Bedingungen erhoben. Dabei zeigte sich eine geringfügige Absenkung des Augendrucks durchschnittlich um 0,56 mm Hg nach Absolvierung der Kur (statistische Sicherheit p < 0,001). Auch bei einer normotonen Vergleichsgruppe zeigten die Werte ein ähnliches Ergebnis. Die Untersuchungen bestätigen frühere Hinweise, dass derartige Kurmaßnahmen bei guter Glaukomeinstellung mit größter Sicherheit keinerlei Gefährdung für die Patienten darstellen. Vielmehr könnten die die Mikrozirkulation verbessernden, antioxidativ (-neuroprotektiv -) wirkenden und Stress abbauenden Kurbehandlungen in Bad Hall zusammen mit der sorgfältigen Augeninnendrucksenkung als ein modernes, zeitgemäßes und ganzheitliches Behandlungskonzept beim Glaukom angesehen werden.Schlüsselwörter: Glaukom, Augenkurbehandlungen, mög-liche Wirkungen. In 299 eyes of 160 patients suffering from glaucoma the intraocular pressure was measured before and after eye-cure treatment (eye-iontophoresis) in Bad Hall under standardized conditions. On average, a small decrease of the IOP of 0.56 mm Hg was found after treatments (statistically significant at p < 0.001). Similar results were obtained in a normotonic control group. These data confirm previous indications that such balneotherapeutic treatments are no risk for patients with consequently controlled IOP. On the contrary, the cure treatments in Bad Hall, showing positive effects on microcirculation, on oxidative stress (including neuroprotection) and on common stress, could be taken as a modern and comprehensive method of glaucoma treatment in conjunction with a consequent reduction of the IOP.
