GlioVis data portal for visualization and analysis of brain tumor expression datasets

Abstract: the effects they observed could be influenced by inhibition of other types of Trk receptors or signaling molecules downstream of Trk. We have recently started a series of experiments aiming to verify whether specific TrkB inhibition reduces glioma cell proliferation using ANA-12, a small-molecule selective TrkB antagonist. Our first results showed that ANA-12 effectively and dose-dependently reduces the viability of a human glioblastoma cell line with almost complete disappearance of cultured cells 72 hours af… Show more

“…Gene expression profiles of 78 tumor pairs were generated using transcriptome sequencing, and profiles of the remaining pairs were generated using Affymetrix (n = 31) and Illumina (n = 15) microarrays. To facilitate exploration of this dataset, we have made it available through a webportal (http://recur.bioinfo.cnio.es/) associated with GlioVis (Bowman et al, 2017). We used a gene expression signature (Baysan et al, 2012) to determine that 33 of 124 cases were IDHmut or hypermethylated (known as the GCIMP phenotype) at presentation and recurrence (Table S6).…”

“…Higher levels of CA2, CA4, CA6, or CA13 did not trend with worse patient prognosis in GBM when evaluated using The Cancer Genome Atlas data accessed via GlioVis (ref. 32 and Supplemental Figure 1; supplemental material available online with this article; https://doi.org/10.1172/jci.insight.92928DS1) (33,34). In contrast, elevated CA9 and CA12 expression both correlated or trended with poor GBM patient outcomes ( Figure 1C), particularly in the proneural subtype (Supplemental Figure 2).…”

“…35, 38 Cholesterol depletion leads to uncoupling of SCAP from INSIG-1, leading to cleavage of endoplasmic reticulum-bound SREBP-1a into its free, active form, which then translocates to the nucleus and directs upregulation of cholesterol biosynthesis genes. 35 HDL NP treatment increased accumulation of the active form of SREBP-1a in SUDHL4 cells (Supplemental Figure S4).…”
