“…The ABLA had the highest number of measurement-related studies ( n = 24) yet no respondents reported using this assessment. The PEAK had the second highest number of measurement-related studies ( n = 11) but was the least reportedly used assessment in the field of behavior analysis (Padilla, 2020). Additional research is needed to provide strong evidence supporting the use of several other commonly reported assessments used in ABA, such as the VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS, and EFL.…”

“…Although we identified 46 studies that provided information related to validity and reliability evidence for an ABA-based assessment, a key finding from our study is the misalignment between the assessments reported by behavior analysis professionals (Padilla, 2020) and the number of published validity and/or reliability studies in the literature. Three of the six assessments identified in the systematic literature review (i.e., ABLA, TARPA, VerBAS) were not reportedly used by those practicing in behavior analysis (Padilla, 2020). That is, 31 of the 46 identified studies were based on assessments that are not reported to be widely used, if at all.…”

“…Yet, BCBAs working with young children on the autism spectrum are often tasked with creating treatment plans that target early skills in areas such as play, speech, language, communication, and social skills. Without an in-depth understanding of early developmental sequences in these domains, behavior therapists often rely on popular ABA curriculum-based measures, such as the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement and Program (VB-MAPP), to plan the scope and sequence of instruction (Padilla, 2020), despite poor evidence of reliability and validity (Dixon et al, 2015).…”
