La gobernanza territorial busca mejorar la efectividad en la gestión política. Se refiere al cambio en la relación Estado-sociedad para gestionar asuntos públicos. Este proceso enfrenta mayores dificultades a nivel local, debido generalmente a fallas en el diseño de políticas para la gestión pública. Esto se complejiza cuando la gobernanza se observa en un espacio que aglomera y conjuga elementos ambientales y sociales, como en las Reservas de la Biosfera. El objetivo de este trabajo fue explorar la gobernanza territorial en una experiencia de conservación, mediante el programa de conservación del jaguar. El método utilizado se basó en la propuesta de Chía et al., (2016) sobre gobernanza territorial. Los resultados se dirigen hacia: la calidad de los instrumentos de política y la ausencia de espacios de participación para los pequeños productores agropecuarios del subsector ovino. De este modo, la falta de instrumentos de gestión coherentes y eficaces genera limitaciones para el trabajo intersectorial y limita las posibilidades de avance y consolidación de nodos, conformados por actores e instituciones del sector social. La ausencia de un foro de participación, en el que se dé respuesta a los problemas derivados de la interacción humano-jaguar, aumenta la intolerancia del productor hacia el jaguar, desencadenando la cacería por represalia. Este trabajo concluye que para avanzar en los esfuerzos enfocados a la conservación es imprescindible que la intervención se comprenda y atienda como un problema complejo, cuya posible solución solo ocurrirá a través del lente del trabajo integrativo que incluya a los diferentes actores territoriales.

Economic policies for managing agricultural water use are often complicated by the challenge of using water prices as an efficient economic tool when other non-economic concerns are involved in the decision-making process. This study aims to analyse the impact of water pricing policies on preserving agricultural water resources in Iran. This study applies a system dynamics approach to simulate the system performance and behaviour of stakeholders and the economic implications. Our finding shows that water pricing policies will likely fail due to low water price elasticity and if there are lack of institutional and physical infrastructure, alternative professions, manufacturing technology, education, and training opportunities. The results also illustrate how agricultural water price increase (AWPI) fails to reduce water consumption in the absence of an adequate institutional arrangement. Also, it shows how the lack of advanced institutional infrastructure in the presence of physical infrastructure enhances pervasive overuse and destructive competition among stakeholders by increasing the area under cultivation. In the discussion, the paper portrays a way out to the decision-making body by following AWPI effects on water conservation in the agricultural sector as the most significant water consumer. It investigates the absence and subsequent presence of specific institutional conditions and evaluates training and enhancing farmers' skills and alternative career sources with better income and technology as the architecture of good environmental governance. Finally, it concludes that a series of inclusive measures must be considered to increase the elasticity of the water price. These measures must stimulate farmers towards pursuing the goals of global sustainable development and enhancing social welfare.

To prove the credibility of empirical and theoretical claims about the ties between problem-based learning (PBL) and educational outcomes, this study investigates the role of PBL as a teaching model to enhance students' learning activities and outcomes in South Sulawesi located in rural Indonesia. The study subjects included first graders at a junior high school who achieved lower levels academically than pupils in other regions. This study involved classroom activities conducted in two cycles, each comprising routine of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Observation sheets and evaluation tests were used to measure students' learning activities and outcomes. The data were subjected to qualitative and quantitative analyses. The results showed that the students' learning activities and outcomes in biology class were improved from the first to the second cycle, suggesting successful resolution of students' difficulties and enhanced performance. In addition, teachers improved their effectiveness by implementing PBL, even though they lacked prior knowledge. Therefore, this study may be useful for practitioners especially teachers administering PBL. PBL is an effective approach that may be incorporated into teaching curriculum by science teachers.
