Global Trends and Hotspots in Trigeminal Neuralgia Research From 2001 to 2021: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract: BackgroundIn recent years, there have been an increasing number of studies on trigeminal neuralgia (TN). However, a scientific and comprehensive study of the current situation and trends in the field of TN research is lacking. The purpose of this study is to summarize and visualize the development, research hotspots, and future trends in TN based on a bibliometric approach.MethodsStudies on TN published from 2001 to 2021 were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Bibliometrics, CiteSpace, a… Show more

“…Keyword co-occurrence analysis can show the relationship between the main keywords, and cluster analysis is to classify keywords and group some keywords with the same attributes. Keyword co-occurrence analysis and cluster analysis of the top-100 articles can help readers sort out the hot areas of popular literature research and current research trends ( 8 , 25 ). The results suggest that the research direction in the field of delirium focuses on the evaluation and treatment of delirium in critically ill patients and postoperative delirium ( 1 , 26 , 27 ).…”

“…This database has two major strengths which are reference tracing and citation reporting, as it enables search within leading academic journals and citation networks and can powerfully trace references and citation activities to explore research outputs in a specific area ( 36 ). The WOS database has been used by researchers in bibliometric analyses in many areas, such as oral carcinoma ( 24 ), trigeminal neuralgia ( 37 ), and gut microbiota ( 38 ). For the identification of the relevant articles, we consulted an information specialist from the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.…”
