Abstract:Glucocorticoids are used in clinical practice for more than 50 years and are a great advance in the treatment of systemic inflammatory diseases. High doses of intravenous glucocorticoids (pulse therapy) are effective in conditions requiring rapid immunosuppression and antiinflammatory effect, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, glomerulonephritis and systemic vasculitides.
