Abstract: . Purpose:  The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) and UK Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS) have studied glycaemic control as well as other risk factors in preventing the progression of diabetic end‐organ disease, including diabetic retinopathy.
