Glycosyltransferase 8 domain-containing protein 1 (GLT8D1) is a UDP-dependent galactosyltransferase

João B. Vicente,
Ana Catarina L. Guerreiro,
Beatriz Felgueiras
et al.

Abstract: Glycosyltransferases (GTs) are enzymes that catalyze the formation of glycosidic bonds and hundreds of GTs have been identified so far in humans. Glycosyltransferase 8 domain-containing protein 1 (GLT8D1) has been associated with central nervous system diseases and cancer. However, evidence on its enzymatic properties, including its substrates, has been scarcely described. In this paper, we have produced and purified recombinant secretory GLT8D1. The enzyme was found to be N-glycosylated. Differential scanning… Show more

“…Vigun07g113700, related to Cream and White coat seeds, encodes a Glycosyl Transferase 8 domain-containing protein. This enzyme belongs to the glycosyltransferases family, using activated sugar donors like UDP-glucose to transfer sugar units to acceptors, thus modifying the properties of these molecules [60]. Some glycosyltransferases are involved in the modification and stabilization of phenolic compounds, which can contribute to pigmentation and UV protection.…”
