Abstract

Evaluation of 25 (OH) D Levels and Awareness of Vitamin D in the Patients in the Chest Diseases Department and the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Clinic in Research HospitalAim: This study aimed to evaluation of 25 (OH) D levels and awareness of vitamin d in the patients ın the chest diseases department and the physical therapy and rehabilitation clinic in research hospital. Methods: The study was conducted between April 1 and June 30, 2016 with patients hospitalized in Chest Diseases and Physical Therapy Department. The study sample consisted of 59 patients who agreed to participate in the study had no communication difficulties and blood 25 (OH) D level tested. The data collection form, which consists of 15 questions, evaluates the socio-demographic characteristics and awareness of vitamin D of the patients prepared by the researchers in line with the literature was used in the data collection. Blood 25-OH D values of the patients were also obtained from the hospital information system. Results: 55.9% of the participants were female and the mean age was 60.41 ± 15.55. Mean 25-OH vitamin D level of the participants was 16.78 ± 12.55. 45.8% of the participants had vitamin D deficiency (25-OH D ˂10 ng / ml) and . There was no statistically significant difference between 25-OH Vitamin D levels according to age and sex (p> 0.05). Conclusion:As a result of our study, it was determined that vitamin D deficiency was found in the majority of the patients and it was suggested to provide vitamin D support, to raise public awareness and to take preventive measures.
