Abstract:Severe forms of Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) can involve the external eye causing erosive corneal disease. This is the first case to our knowledge to report the use of gold weight implants with the aim of correcting cicatricial lagophthalmos in a patient with EB. Our case highlights that with appropriate perioperative care and careful surgical technique, upper eyelid loading procedures can be performed safely in individuals with EB.
