“…The pathogenicity of E. piscicida , part of which may have been misclassified as E. tarda in the past, might be underestimated compared to E. tarda (Bujan et al, 2018; Griffin et al, 2014). E. piscicida can infect a broad range of freshwater and seawater teleost fish species, like Pomoxis nigromaculatus (Griffin et al, 2019), Micropterus salmoides (Camus et al, 2019; Fogelson et al, 2016), Paralichthys olivaceus (Sugiura et al, 2018), Lates calcarifer (Loch et al, 2017), Carassius auratus (Choe et al, 2017), Taeniura meyeni (Camus et al, 2016), Ictalurus punctatus (Reichley et al, 2016) and Anguilla japonica (Tu & Kawai, 1998). In the meanwhile, edwardsiellosis caused great damage to the aquaculture industry, as the cumulative mortality of hybrid tilapia juveniles in Southeast Asia reached 40–50% (Dong et al, 2019); also, the mortality rate was up to 90–95% in adult turbot and 70–80% in juvenile ones (Wang et al, 2006); moreover, high mortality was observed in the eels with the cumulative mortality rate estimated to be >65% over a month (Jung et al, 2022).…”
