GOLI – Glossário Online em Libras para Informática

Abstract

The deaf community is a significant portion of Brazilian society.However, many online educational contents are not always inclusive,especially for deaf students in technical areas, such as computerscience. Therefore, the lack of adequate inclusion strategiesresults in poor learning for the deaf public. This paper proposesan online glossary in Libras for computer science whose termsare associated with videos that explain their meaning. This paperpresents the following contributions: 1) self-construction capacitythat is visiting online glossaries to consult and extract new termsfor the students’ database; and 2) production of explanatory videoscontaining computer science expressions. The objective of the prototypeis to reduce the inclusion barrier for deaf students sincemany are not literate in Portuguese. The results found highlightthe importance of the proposal as a viable alternative to promoteaccessibility for the deaf academic community.
