“…In these cases, the fibrotic TM may have a higher resistance to rupture when viscoelastic is injected, making the Descemet-stroma interface the path of least resistance and placing these patients at higher risk of DMD. While there are many published reports on the safety and efficacy of GATT in different types of glaucomas, including steroid induced 9 and primary angle closure, 10 there are no reports specifically on the use of GATT in the setting of neovascularization.…”

“…184 Grover et al described the GATT procedure. 185 GATT is an ab interno technique that bisects the trabecular meshwork circumferentially for 360 or 180 (hemi-GATT) using either a suture, (5 or 6/0 Prolene) [186][187][188][189] or the iTrack. 190 GATT has been used in PCG and juvenile glaucoma 191 and angle closure glaucoma.…”

“…190 GATT has been used in PCG and juvenile glaucoma 191 and angle closure glaucoma. 188 Kahook Dual Blade (KDB) (New World Medical) is an ab interno trabeculectomy device that uses a precise blade enabling controlled TM excision. Phaco-KDB performed similarly or better to phaco-iStent G1 in some nonrandomised studies.…”

“…The most common complications included hyphema (present in 100% of eyes) and IOP spike (1 case), which resolved spontaneously or were controlled by topical medications. Sharkawi et al 101 prospectively observed 103 eyes from 88 patients with PACG (with a MD of −18.5 ± 7.6 dB for visual field) undergoing 5-0 polypropylene suture assisted GATT. During a 24-month follow-up, the mean IOP dropped from 21.4 ± 7.4 to 12.1 ± 2.4 mm Hg (P < 0.05), and the mean number of topical IOP-lowering medications decreased from 2.5 to 0.8 (P < 0.05).…”
