Introduction: In Benin, a tropical West African country of 11 million inhabitants where the economy is based on agriculture, the only bibliometric work available has focused on the role of collaboration among researchers, but there are no general long term studies of the country’s scientific output. Objective: To analyse the scientific output of Benin, according to the Science Citation Index Expanded, in a 46-year period. Methods: We searched for “Benin” in the country/region field of the index and analysed the results with descriptive statistics. Results: We found 4 557 documents, published between 1973 and 2018. They closely match the trends previously found in other small tropical countries: domination of articles over other types of publication like letters and notes; increase in total number of articles published each year; small collaborations in large American and European projects; and a long article lifespan that reflects the relatively slow accumulation of scientific research in tropical regions. Considering the size of the country’s economy, Benin has a good level of scientific productivity. Conclusion: In its scientific activity, Benin is similar to other tropical countries, and would benefit from increased cooperation among local researchers; from less dependence on small participations in international megaprojects, and from opening the door to research in areas of innovation rather than just solving immediate problems.

In this treatise, we examined the activities of researchers of Nigeria descent in the frontier areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology, with a focus on green nanotechnology. The exploration of literature published by scholars were reviewed and compartmentalized on the basis of applications of the nanomaterials. It can be concluded that the level of activities in this area is expanding owing to the emergence of more published works since the beginning of 2010. However, in comparison with research outputs from other developing African countries such as South Africa and Egypt, activities in green nanotechnology are still at low ebb in Nigeria. Issues that are contributory to the slow pace were identified and appropriate solutions in terms of improved funding of education, enactment of national policy on nanotechnology, curriculum development, international cooperation as well as human resource development among others were discussed.

Abstract-The initial criteria for evaluating a researcher's output is the number of papers published. Furthermore, for the measurement of author's research quality, the number of citations is significant. Typically, citations are directly linked with the visibility of a research paper. Many researches had shown that the visibility of a research paper can be improved further by using the search engine optimization techniques. In addition, some research already proved that the visibility of an article could improve the citation results. In this article, we analysed the impact of search engine optimization techniques that can improve the visibility of a research paper. Furthermore, this paper also proposing some strategies that can help and making the research publication visible to a large number of users.
