Gravitational lensing and ghost images in the regular Bardeen no-horizon spacetimes

Abstract: We study deflection of light rays and gravitational lensing in the regular Bardeen no-horizon spacetimes. Flatness of these spacetimes in the central region implies existence of interesting optical effects related to photons crossing the gravitational field of the no-horizon spacetimes with low impact parameters. These effects occur due to existence of a critical impact parameter giving maximal deflection of light rays in the Bardeen no-horizon spacetimes. We give the critical impact parameter in dependence on… Show more

“…In the regular Bardeen and ABG spacetimes the metric is de Sitter like at the central region [31], just in the spirit of the original ideas on the nonsingular black hole spacetimes presented in [48,49]. In the no-horizon spacetimes this effect has an extraordinary influence on the character of null geodesics and related optical phenomena [32].…”

“…Rotating regular black hole solutions have been introduced in [19][20][21][22][23][24]. Similarly to the Kerr or Reissner-Nordström solutions of the standard general relativity that describe both black holes and naked singularities, the regular solutions describe both the black hole and no-horizon spacetimes demonstrating strong gravity effects [25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32].…”

“…The deflection of light rays and gravitational lensing in regular Bardeen spacetime was also studied [16]. The ghost images of Keplerian discs, generated by photons with low impact parameters for a regular Bardeen black hole was also discussed [16].…”

“…It means, that in this case there exist more then one primary image of the source at the radial coordinate r e . We call the additional primary images "ghosts" as they appear in the region of the observer sky that is empty in the black hole spacetimes 5 . We illustrate the existence of one and two ghosts in plots on Figs.…”
