Abstract:The recent discovery of gravitational waves has opened a new window in astronomy. Accreting systems are very common in astrophysics and are multifreqeuncy sources, since their emission spans the whole electromagnetic spectrum. Accreting systems in astronomy are also multimessenger sources, since they can emit gravitational waves via a variety of physical mechanisms and because of their intrinsical binary nature. This paper presents a review of the gravitational wave emission of accreting systems at all scales,… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
