Nickel-doped lithium manganate spinels are a potential material for future energy storage owing to high cell potential and low price. Phase-pure spinels are difficult to prepare by conventional solid-state synthesis methods owing to loss of oxygen from the crystal lattice at high temperature (,8008C). Loss of oxygen causes Jahn-Teller distortion and Mn 4þ is converted into Mn 3þ , which results in undesired double-plateau discharge and reduction in capacity and stability of the material. In this study, nanocrystalline phase-pure LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 was prepared by co-precipitation with cyclohexylamine followed by calcination at a low temperature of 5008C. X-ray diffraction studies confirmed that a highly crystalline face-centred cubic product is formed with F-d3m space group. Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscope studies confirmed that the particles are in the nano range with a porous structure. The as-prepared LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 showed a high initial specific capacity (up to 130 mA h g À1 ) and retained up to 120 mA h g À1 up to 50 cycles. The material has high conductivity and remains stable up to a 20-C discharge rate.

Reduction in running resistance plays a crucial part in designing of a solar car which is mainly contributed by aerodynamic drag. So reduction in Coefficient of Drag is required to optimize the performance of the solar car. This paper introduces aerodynamic consideration in designing body for a solar car which is to participate in World Solar Challenge, the world's top solar car race. The body is subdivided into three parts namely: basic body shape, canopy and wheel fairings. The parts were modeled in Solidworks followed by computational fluid analysis in ANSYS Fluent. The results were critically analyzed in order to arrive at an aerodynamic design of body for a solar car.

Fossil fuels are of greater importance in transport systems because when it is burnt, produces significant amounts of energy to move the vehicle along. Generally usage of the air-conditioning system in the transportation will increase the usage of the fossil fuel thereby increases pollution rate. The additional energy resources such as solar energy can be used in a vehicle to generate adequate energy to power the air-conditioning system instead of solely depending on the fossil fuel, which increases the fuel consumption rate in an engine. The solar panel allows it to absorb the sun's energy and turn it into electricity can be utilized to power the air-conditioning system in a car. Thereby the consumption of fossil fuel is lowered. Besides, this application, benefits the environment as it produces lower carbon which minimizes the effect of the greenhouse effect thereby and global warming.
