Green supply management in the public and private sector in Hungary

Abstract: This paper compares the green purchasing practices of the private sector with those of public procurement with the aim of identifying the causes of differences. Private sector purchasing in Western economies is often seen as a benchmark for public procurement in terms of efficiency, management processes and the management of spending. We present the results of a literature review and a survey about this topic that was carried out in Hungary. The number of publications that compare the two fields is low, even i… Show more

“…It is pretty apparent that there is a strong bias towards the environmental dimension compared to other dimensions (Vörösmarty and Tátrai, 2019; Zipperer, 2019; Sönnichsen and Clement, 2020; Hamdan et al , 2021; Simanovska et al , 2021). However, decent studies have emerged that cater to social criteria in public procurement tendering (Hughes et al , 2019; Osei-Kyei et al , 2019; Vieira et al , 2020; Troje, 2021).…”

“…In addition, some advanced models were developed in order to reduce the negative effects of supply chain activities on the environment, having terms like emission volume, resource saving, etc. One of such is the green supply management and some researchers explored the one performed in Hungary and Lebanese manufacturing industries, which showed the importance of implementing the model (Vörösmarty and Tátrai, 2018;Saade et al, 2019). It would be more interesting to develop some mathematical models for supplier selection and inventory management considering this green model.…”
