Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles and their antibacterial effects

Abstract: Antibacterial resistance is by far one of the greatest challenges to global health. Many pharmaceutical or material strategies have been explored to overcome this dilemma. Of these, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are known to have a non-specific antibacterial mechanism that renders it difficult to engender silver-resistant bacteria, enabling them to be more powerful antibacterial agents than conventional antibiotics. AgNPs have shown promising antibacterial effects in both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteri… Show more

“…However, in biosynthesis, silver nitrate is predominantly used for its abundance and strong intrinsic bioactivities. For instance, it has been utilized to develop wound dressing systems, implants required in clinical treatment, medical catheters, dental modification composites, and innovative cancer therapy and diagnostic approaches [15][16][17].…”

“…[1] Undoubtedly, most of the works are devoted to the bactericidal action of silver. [2][3][4][5][6][7][8] Cancer is a life-threatening disease caused by the uncontrolled division of cells, which culminates in a solid mass of cells known as a tumor. It is the leading cause of mortality worldwide.…”
