Green synthesized AgNPs decorated on Ketjen black for enhanced catalytic dye degradation

Abstract: The green synthesis of nanoparticles using plant-based materials as an alternative to chemical and physical routes provides economic and environmental benefits. In the present study, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were fabricated using Pseudocydonia sinensis fruit extract. The fabricated NPs were then decorated on commercial Ketjen black-300 (AgNPs@KB-300) and Ketjen black-600 (AgNPs@ KB-600). The synthesized materials were characterized via XRD, FTIR, XPS, SEM-EDX, and HR-TEM studies. The SEM and HR-TEM results… Show more

“…This indicates that the second metal (iron or cobalt) was well incorporated into the structure of the Ni-BTC MOF. Pure KB displayed three broad diffraction peaks corresponding to the (100), (002), (101) planes of amorphous carbon [47,48]. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra (Figure 2b) of the Ni-BTC analogs demonstrate the same characteristic bands (listed in Table S2, SI) which are in a good agreement with the literature [39].…”

“…2a), the carbon black particles served as carriers, appearing as irregular polyhedra with a tendency to coalesce, resulting in “grape bunch”-shaped clusters with particle sizes ranging from approximately 20 nm to 50 nm. 61–63 A higher magnification image of individual carbon black particles in Pt 1 Ru x @C (Fig. 2b) revealed that the loaded particles had a size distribution concentrated around 1.0 nm to 1.8 nm ( d = 1.45 nm) and exhibited uniform dispersion.…”

“…The binding energies of 368.2 and 374.2 eV correspond to Ag 3d 5/2 and Ag 3d 3/2 , respectively. Additionally, the difference of binding energy between the double peaks is 6.0 eV, indicating that Ag species in UiO-66-(SH) 2 @TCPP@AgNPs is metallic silver. , ICP results of UiO-66-(SH) 2 @TCPP@AgNPs are shown in Table S1. The Ag and S contents in UiO-66-(SH) 2 @TCPP@AgNPs are 7.4 and 18.4%, respectively, which indicates that the atomic ratio of Ag to S is 0.12.…”
