Greenhouse Biological Approach for Controlling Foliar Diseases of Some Vegetables

Abstract: Evaluation the efficacy of bio-agents, application as foliar spray against vegetables foliar diseases incidence was carried out in open greenhouse conditions. The tested bio-agents were Trichoderma harzianum, T. Viride, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Saccharomyces cerevisiae were evaluated. The recorded foliar diseases, i.e. Powdery, Downy mildews of Cucumber, Cantaloupe and Pepper as well as Early, Late blights of Tomato were significantly reduced at all treat ments either alone or in co mb in… Show more

“…These results may be due to the effect of bio-agents on reducing some diseases of pepper as shown in Table (2) and enhancing plant growth as shown in tables (3&4). Similar results were found by Abdel-Kader, et al (2012) and Alharbi et al (2014).…”

“…Существует не-сколько антагонистических микроорганизмов, которые эффективны в отношении широкого спектра возбудителей болезней растений: Pseudomonas fluorescens PCL1751 и P. putida PCL1760 (35), Bacillus spp. (5,36,37), а также виды рода Trichoderma (5,38). В целом их целесообразно применять на практике как полноценную альтернативу синтетическим химическим фунгицидам.…”

“…For these reasons, it is clear that an eco-friendly alternative strategy to fight against taro leaf blight is needed. In this respect, the use of micro-organisms such as fungal antagonists for pest management in agriculture is one of the most effective strategies of biological control (Vinale et al, 2008;Abdel-Kader et al, 2012;Saba et al 2012).…”

“…Among the fungi, Trichoderma strains are the most studied biocontrol agents and have been successfully used as biopesticides and biofertilizers in greenhouse and field plant production (Abdel-Kader et al, 2012). However, outcomes of using beneficial microbes are strain dependent (Harman et al, 2004;Vinale et al, 2008).…”
