“…However, recent innovations in energy-based interventions have provided alternative treatment options for patients with BPH and may have clinical and economic benefits when compared to TURP. 1,2 Among these technologies, the potassium-titanyl-phosphate laser, which permits the photoselective vaporization of the prostate (PVP), has the potential to be cost-effective compared to TURP; it appears to provide similar outcomes [3][4][5] at a lesser cost 2,6,7 and can be performed in an outpatient setting.
