Group psychotherapy with older adults: The value of an expressive approach.

Abstract: Recent reports on group psychotherapy with older adults have focused on loss, depression, and death, and have prescribed structured therapeutic approaches such as reminiscence, cognitive, and behavioral techniques. This article describes the use of a nonstructured expressive approach to geriatric psychotherapy, with illustrative material drawn from the authors' experiences with an ongoing older adults' psychotherapy group.
