“…The lattice constants of orthorhombic LFO are: a = 5.556 Å, b = 5.565 Å, and c = 7.862 Å [20], and those of orthorhombic YMO are: a = 5.836 Å, b = 5.258 Å, and c = 7.357 Å [21]. STO has a simple cubic structure, a = 3.91 Å.…”

“…If we only consider the lattice mismatch between LFO and YMO, generation of α-domain should be dominated to minimize the strain energy of this system [22,23]. But it should be mentioned that in LFO-YMO multilayers, the YMO lattice has much more distorted oxygen octahedra than LFO (see Figure 10) [20,21]. In this case, torsional torque should be considered, too [22,23].…”

“…In particular, the metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) method allows for the investigation of a series of relevant experimental parameters in order to establish suitable deposition conditions to synthetize thin films with a single hexagonal phase. Gerald et al were able to deposit h -YMnO 3 , h -HoMnO 3 , and h -ErMnO 3 on ZrO 2 (111)\(Y 2 O 3 ) and on Pt(111)\TiO 2 \SiO 2 \Si(001) substrates by pulsed injection metal organic chemical vapor deposition (PIMOCVD) [ 25 , 26 , 27 ]. Their work exemplifies some physical and electrical property modifications, like magnetoelectric effects, obtained in the films by the choice of R MnO 3 , strain engineering via substrate, film thickness, and annealing conditions.…”
