Growth of functional cranial components in rats with intrauterine growth retardation after treatment with growth hormone

Abstract: The goal of this study was to analyse the effect of growth hormone (GH) on catch-up growth of functional facial (splanchnocranial) and neurocranial components in rats with intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR). “…Algunos de los resultados obtenidos a partir de estos estudios mostraron cambios ocurridos a nivel morfológico, tales como reducción del peso y tamaño corporal al nacimiento, retardo del crecimiento y efecto alométrico en los huesos del cráneo y del esqueleto postcraneano y modificación de los patrones de dimorfismo sexual, entre otros (Oyhenart et al, 1998(Oyhenart et al, , 1999(Oyhenart et al, , 2003a.
