Abstract

Checklist for language changes in children aged 3 to 5 years: application and analysis Whenever present, risk factors determine an increase in the likelihood of problems arising, as well as the vulnerability in developing a certain disease or condition. The process of identifying the possible risk factors related to language has significant relevance since it is imperative to perform early intervention, as well as awareness of parents about these possible risks. As a result, an instrument can be an important resource for this process. The objective of the study was to identify clinical risks or indications for language alterations in children aged 3 to 5 years, through the application and analysis of the CICRICAL Checklist. It is a qualitative study (non-metric variable), nominal and ordinal. The study included 76 children of both genders, divided into 3 groups: G3 with 25 children from 3 years to 3 years and 11 months, G4 with 27 children from 4 years to 4 years and 11 months and G5 with 24 children from 5 years to 5 years and 11 months, from four schools, three from the public/municipal school system and one from a private school from a city in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The children were submitted to the instrument, which consists of a Checklist composed of 2 parts: the first one covers the aspects related to risk factors and covers Step 1 and 2 of the Checklist, and the second one covers the main milestones of language development, which corresponds to Step 3. The prevalence of risk factors in the studied population, both biological and environmental were observed, as well as statistically significant results in risk factors of both types of risk, such as genetic syndrome and low-educated mothers.
