Abstract

Evidencing the benefits of Industry 4.0 for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry: promises, practices and unresolved problems The Fourth Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0, is poised to radically transform the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. In 2018, the World Economic Forum (WEF) initiated an action plan for shaping the future of construction as it called the attention of senior executives to exploit the capabilities that new digital, sensing and fabrication technologies can bring to improve the productivity and sustainability of the sector (WEF, 2018).
