Abstract:Surface relief gratings are proven to be valuable tools for polarization control, spectral and spatial filtering in the optics and electromagnetics community. With the use of guided mode resonance effect, one can achieve desired reflection/transmission properties of thin film gratings that can be applied in laser resonators as filters that partain lowest order transverse resonator modes, hence them being amplified in the gain medium.
