“…Nuttallides umbonifera was a major component responsible for the changes across both AB boundaries, being the species that increased most markedly in percentage abundance across the AB I-II boundary and the one that decreased most markedly across the AB II-III boundary. Siphonodosaria nuttalli aculeata, Stilostomella subspinosa, and Brizalina plicatella increased and decreased in a similar manner to N. umbonifera, suggesting that these four species may have belonged to the same taxonomic guild, a foraminiferal guild being an association that competes for the same resources but interacts little with member of other guilds (Wilson, 2006c). “…It occurs primarily in lagoon and shelf environments but it is also recorded from the continental slope in the Gulf of Mexico. Although most records are from sediment samples it is also found to be epiphytal in low abundance on various calcareous algae on nevis (Wilson, 2007;Wilson & Ramsook, 2007).
