Abstract: Respiratory failure is a common complication of Guillain‐Barré syndrome (GBS). Patients who need mechanical ventilation usually recover within a few weeks. Here, Dr Gaber reports a case of GBS which required mechanical ventilation for 22 months; the management of this challenging group of patients is rarely reported.
