Guizhi Fuling Wan, a Traditional Chinese Herbal Formula, Sensitizes Cisplatin‐Resistant Human Ovarian Cancer Cells through Inactivation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR Pathway

Abstract: The aim of the study was to explore the possible mechanisms that Guizhi Fuling Wan (GFW) enhances the sensitivity of the SKOV3/DDP ovarian cancer cells and the resistant xenograft tumours to cisplatin. Rat medicated sera containing GFW were prepared by administering GFW to rats, and the primary bioactive constituents of the sera were gallic acid, paeonol, and paeoniflorin analysed by HPLC/QqQ MS. Cell counting kit-8 analysis was shown that coincubation of the sera with cisplatin/paclitaxel enhanced significant… Show more

“…Using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS), ten bioactive constituents were detected in rat plasma after the oral administration of Sanjie Zhentong capsules; these included peimine, peiminine, peimisine, loureirin A, loureirin B, 7,4'-dihydroxyflavone, pterostilbene, ginsenoside Rg1, ginsenoside Rb1, and notoginsenoside R1 [ 161 ]. Sanjie Zhentong capsules could effectively reduce the concentration of prostacyclin PGF2 and thromboxane B2 (TXB2) in plasma, thereby relieving uterine smooth muscle contraction, reducing inflammation, and enhancing immune function [ 162 ]. The two main components, oureirin and ginsenoside R, were shown to be effective in reducing the level of VEGF and TNF- α in the peritoneal fluids in an endometriosis rat model [ 163 ].…”
