GuPPy, a Python toolbox for the analysis of fiber photometry data

Abstract: Fiber photometry (FP) is an adaptable method for recording in vivo neural activity in freely behaving animals. It has become a popular tool in neuroscience due to its ease of use, low cost, the ability to combine FP with freely moving behavior, among other advantages. However, analysis of FP data can be a challenge for new users, especially those with a limited programming background. Here, we present Guided Photometry Analysis in Python (GuPPy), a free and open-source FP analysis tool. GuPPy is provided as a … Show more

“…Raw signals for 473 nm excitation (GCaMP6f) and 405 nm excitation (isosbestic signal) were recorded using Doric Neuroscience Studio software. We used the Guppy software for analysis 69 . After loading the data, we apply an artifact correction criterion consisting on the removal of the first second of the raw data.…”

“…Fiber photometry data was collected throughout the entire time that mice were in the open field. GuPPy, an open-source Python-based photometry data analysis pipeline, was used to determine dLight1.3b transient timepoints (25). A custom MATLAB script was used to calculate dLight1.3b area-under-the-curve (AUC).…”
