“…In these studies, PS was associated with several cognitive disabilities [4], problems in memory [5], language and visuospatial areas [6], and poor academic performance [7]. Underlying mechanisms that may explain the association between PS and the above-mentioned consequences are not well understood.…”

“…In addition, our findings are in line with data showing that even children with low but abnormal AHI have often memory problems, attention problems, and school difficulties. [3][4][5][6] Finally, as the total number of children is relatively limited, despite the usage of "standardized regression test" before performing correlation analyses and the inclusion of all studied children for statistical purpose, the results will need to be confirmed with larger numbers and/or evaluation of change noted with appropriate treatment.…”

“…Hence, an objective, easily applicable, and lowcost screening test was considered mandatory. Secondly, we were also interested in intermittent hypoxia as an intervening factor in the relationship between SDB and several outcomes, such as impaired behaviour [43] and academic achievement [24]. Intermittent hypoxia is thought to cause prefrontal cortical dysfunction leading to impaired cognitive execution [44].…”
