Abstract:Summary:A 5-year old Dutch Warmblood gelding was presented with bilateral epistaxis, dyspnoea, a stiff gait, a reluctance to move and a wide-base stance, lethargy, anorexia and a muscular defence. Ultrasonography revealed marked pleural effusion on both left and right sides of the thorax and 7 litres of haemorrhagic fluid was drained after placement of a thoracic catheter.
