“…Errors are 1 σ . Data sources: MORB and OIB (Kendrick et al, ; Kendrick, Jackson, et al, , ; Kendrick et al, ), sedimentary pore fluids (Fehn et al, ; Kastner et al, ; Martin et al, ; Muramatsu et al, ), seawater (Bruland & Lohan, ), serpentinites from the oceanic lithosphere (John et al, ; Kendrick et al, ; Kendrick, Honda, et al, ), AOC (Chavrit et al, ; Kendrick, Honda, et al, ), and MORB source mantle (Burgess et al, ; Jambon et al, ; Kendrick et al, , ; Kendrick, Jackson, et al, , ; Saal et al, ; Salters & Stracke, ). The halogen ratios reported by Kendrick et al (, ) and Kendrick, Honda, et al () were recalculated using revised values for scapolite monitors (Kendrick, Arculus, et al, ).…”

“…Urann et al () argued that a slab melt derived from the subducted Farallon plate was responsible for the relatively high F concentration in a Kilbourne Hole mantle xenolith. It is also possible that the low Br/Cl halogens, which are similar to AOC (Figure a; Chavrit et al, ; Kendrick, Honda, et al, ), were also derived from a slab melt. This process indicates that the low Br/Cl component is secondary.…”
