“…The aim of the present study was to compare the sensitivity and specificity of three novel digital fundus cameras with remote image interpretation for DR grading. For digital fundus imaging we chose a Topcon TRC 50 IA fundus camera (Topcon Europe BV, LJ Capelle a/d IJssel, the Netherlands), used at the Photographic Laboratory of University Eye Clinic, University of Turku; a Canon CR6–45NM (Canon Europe, Amstelveen, the Netherlands), a new digital version of the popular CR5–45NM Polaroid fundus camera widely used for screening for DR; and a simplified hand‐held digital colour videocamera (MediTell, MediMaker Ltd, Ranua, Finland), recently described as being appropriate for the use of general practitioners but not previously tested for screening of DR or other eye diseases (Saari et al 2002).…”
