Hand Weakness in the Elderly

Abstract: Hand weakness is an important but frequently overlooked problem in the elderly. The exact diagnosis is often difficult because of the complexities of innervation and muscle function. An anatomic approach to the diagnosis of isolated hand weakness in the elderly is presented. Causes, evaluation, and therapy for various forms of this symptom are reviewed.
