Handover Control Function Based Handover for Mobile IPv6

Abstract: IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN (WLAN) has been enthusiastically adopted in business offices, homes, and other spaces, for both public and private wireless local network connection. The users would like to deploy Voice IP (VoIP) and Video Phone based on Mobile IPv6 Protocol over Wireless LAN network. However, the frequent change in the mobile node's location causes evident signaling overhead, handover latency and packet loss, which in turn leads to the service degradation of real time traffic in Mobile IPv6. In this … Show more

“…Besides the main proposals, some approaches are proposed to providing lossless handover and minimizing the handover delay ( [10], [11], [12]). IEEE 802.11f standard, known as Inter-Access Point Protocol (IAPP), has been proposed in 2003 [10].…”

“…In [11], a Pre-Handover Signaling (PHS) protocol is proposed to support the triggering of a predictive handover and to allow the network to achieve accurate handover decisions considering different constraints, such as Quality-ofService (QoS), the user's profile and the MN service requirements. In [12], this paper proposes to use a new entity -Handover Control Function (HCF) to pre-decide MN's new CoA, consequently, MN could send Binding Update message when it still connects with its previous AP. However HCF could not avoid absolutely the IP collision and the inter-HCF handover is not discussed.…”

“…Ultrasonic assisted cutting has potential advantages in metal cutting process, such as ultrasonic assisted drilling, turning, grinding, lapping, polishing and honing etc. The study shows that ultrasonic machining can reduce cutting force and case hardening, improve the surface quality and enhance the tool life and the machining efficiency [3,4]. Ultrasonic lapping is the processing method compounded of mechanical lapping and ultrasonic vibration.…”

“…HMIPv6 introduces a mobility anchor point (MAP), which acts rather like a local home agent (HA) for the visiting mobile node (MN). The concept of MAP can limit the amount of signaling required outside the MAP's domain [3,4]. FHMIPv6 [5] can reduce packet loss by providing fast IP connectivity as soon as a new link at the link layer is established.…”
