Hard Anodization Film on Carbon Steel Surface by Thermal Spray and Anodization Methods

Abstract: In this paper, we used two mass-produced industrial technologies, namely, thermal spraying and anodization methods, to enhance the surface characteristics of AISI 1045 medium carbon steel for use in special environments or products. The anodic film can effectively improve the surface properties of carbon steel. A sequence of treatments of the carbon steel substrate surface that consist of sandblasting, spraying the aluminum film, annealing, hot rolling, cleaning, grinding, and polishing can increase the qualit… Show more

“…In order to cover the alloy surfaces with plasma at rapid velocities, the source components are warmed or molten. In an experiment, the exterior properties of AISI 1045 intermediate carbon steel were improved by Chiang et al [10] using two mass-produced commercial techniques, thermal spraying and anodization, for usage in unique devices or goods. The superficial qualities of carbon steel were significantly enhanced by the anodic layer.…”

“…However, the discovery of materials that fits therapeutic needs was as a result of the biological advancement of biomaterials throughout antiquity, and this led to the development of suitable preliminary biomedical implants accompanied by the stability of the attachment or assimilation over a lengthy period. Obligations aside, bioactivity is a crucial criterion for the capability of tissues to attach inside the body devoid of creating unfavorable discomfort [9][10][11][12][13]. By spreading nascent cells all over the restored marrow and implantation interface, the subsequent osseointegration procedure aids in the formation of fresh marrow.…”

“…Nevertheless, carbon steel is susceptible to corrosion especially in marine environments. Therefore, various methods have been taken to safeguard steel against corrosion, including electroplating, micro-arc oxidation, thermal spraying and the use of organic coatings [ 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 ]. Among them, organic coatings are the most common anti-corrosion strategy.…”

“…Several methods have been explored to protect carbon steels from corrosion, including alloying [3], organic coatings [4], anodization [5,6], conversion coatings [7], and the use of inhibitors [8][9][10][11][12]. Among them, inhibitors have attracted significant attention due to their high efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and ability to provide corrosion protection without adversely affecting mechanical properties, as can be seen in the case of alloying methods [13].…”
