“…In the interim of a unifying definition, it is best to view the enterprise of clinically supervising professionals in the field of addictions, as requiring supervisors to have an informed understanding on the impact of the work (Knight, 2018) as well as the contributing components of the work itself—administrative tasks and clinical efforts (Choy-Brown & Stanhope, 2018). As such, integrated supports include ensuring that clinical supervision addresses the need to balance the doing of the work and the management of the work tasks (Laschober et al, 2012), while also being cognizant that the longer the professional does the work the greater the cumulative impact they will experience (Edwards et al, 2005; Quigley, 2003).
