“…Second, it is probable that the larger sample size of our study added to its statistical power with multivariate regression. Third, there were large differences between the subjects of Kim Viscoelastic injection is widely used to treat FAC [21][22][23][24], but providing this additional treatment to our Grade 2-3 FAC study participants was not associated with any long-term success of trabeculectomy. Our study had a retrospective design, and the lack of criteria for the treatment of FAC significantly limits the results.…”

“…In our study, a single OVD injection resolved FAC and achieved deep anterior chamber in 84% of the subjects. Case reports by Hoffman et al,7 as well as Gutierrez-Ortiz and Moreno-López13 on the use of OVD injection to treat postoperative FAC suggested that OVD injection is a simple and effective procedure for managing this complication. Our case series study showed that OVD injection is an effective treatment for FAC after trabeculectomy.…”

“…The primary outcome variable was the qualified success of the trabeculectomy, defined by three levels of IOP-related criteria with or without glaucoma medication, as follows: (1) IOP ≤21 mmHg, reduced ≥20% from the preoperative level (ie, the last IOP value before surgery); (2) IOP ≤16mmHg, reduced ≥20% from the preoperative level; or (3) IOP ≤12 mmHg, reduced ≥30% from the pre-operative level 13,17. The surgery was deemed to have failed if these criteria were not satisfied at two consecutive visits, or if a secondary surgery to lower the IOP was required.…”

“…The author favors viscoelastics, which seem overall safer, since they last longer than air and BSS, they are noncataractogenous and are isovolumetric independent of IOP (unlike gases). Viscoelastics offer a broad range of cohesiveness, and perhaps the best compromise is offered by thixotropic substances like Healon 5 [6]. Upon viscoelastic injection, the AC should be filled as much as possible, but care should be taken not to raise the IOP too much, to avoid the deleterious effects of a possible acute IOP spike, but also to avoid breaking the outflow system which was already not tight enough, causing an untoward expulsion of the bulk of viscoelastic into the bleb, with even deeper hypotony.…”
