“…Although the average QOL scores of most domains for our subjects marginally met the 70% cut-off recommended by Cummins, and which is supported by data from several countries, the pattern of scores was similar to the international data because in all the available reports [9,11,12,15,16,30,38], the score for the psychological health domain was the least, in comparison with all other domains of QOL. It has been suggested that the low score on psychological health indicates that the students need access to programs and services that address their mental health needs [8].…”

“…In the sixth study, the children had a mean total PedsQOL score of 67.2, which the authors considered to be relatively low [8]. Other studies from Finland (75.4% - 85.0%) [38] and the USA (78.2% - 84.0%) [30] had similar findings. This is supported by similar data from non-western countries, such as Korea (82.6% - 93.5%) [12], Brazil (73.0% - 93.1%) [15], and Iran (71.7% - 90.9%) [16].…”

“…Although some studies have recently analysed sociodemographic and socioeconomic differences in HRQOL in general populations of children and adolescents [10][11][12][13], we could find only two articles that have assessed the HRQOL of elementary school children using comprehensive population samples [14,15]. Furthermore, background variables like neighbourhood characteristics have been shown to have impact on individual health and healthrelated behaviours in children and adults [16][17][18].…”

“…[7]. Researchers address serious concern regarding the emotional well-being of present day adolescents in general [8][9][10] and there have been suggestions that social media may increase and create new mental health problems, such as addiction to social networking, in certain populations [11].The evidence addressing the addictive qualities of social networks are however scarce and social media is mostly used for common social purposes. It has been suggested that extravert personalities use social networking for social communication.…”
