Health‐related quality of life and burden of fatigue in patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia by phase of disease

Abstract: The main objective of this study was to compare health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of primary immune thrombocytopenia (pITP) patients with that of general population, overall, and by patient group (i.e., newly diagnosed, persistent, and chronic patients). Fatigue was also investigated as a secondary objective. Overall, 424 adult patients were enrolled in a multicenter observational study and the control group consisted of a representative sample from the general population. Propensity score matching plus f… Show more

“…HRQoL is an important tool to evaluate the influence of disease and the therapeutic efficacy of treatment. 35,36 In this study, HRQoL was assessed based on ITP-PAQ, including ITP-related symptoms, fatigue, activity, psychological health, fear, overall quality of life, social activity, and work. 24 Note, ITP-PAQ was shown to have fairly good responsiveness, reliability, and validity.…”

“…The capacity of eltrombopag and rituximab for improving T cell subsets, particularly Tregs, may help explain these observations (Bao et al , ). This strategy could lead to cost‐efficiency, with a total cost of US$1400 in our institution, compared with that of continued treatment and loss of work productivity, issues relevant in a limited‐resources context (Efficace et al , ).…”
