“…Unequivocal recommendation by a trusted healthcare provider is a well-recognized determinant of vaccine confidence and uptake among parents [22,[94][95][96][97][98] and may influence vaccine confidence and uptake among adolescents [99,100]. Discussing vaccines presents an opportunity to support adolescents in making independent healthcare related decisions [8,16], but requires careful navigation when parental consent is required, or when adolescent and their parents may have divergent views around vaccines.…”

“…Studies included in our systematic review were limited to healthcare provider interactions that included both parents and adolescents, rather than confidential adolescent visits. A recent systematic review of healthcare provider strategies to increase HPV vaccine uptake found the use of multi-settings to target hardto-reach vulnerable adolescents, consistently recommending the vaccine to adolescents, opencommunication and motivational approaches, and sexual health education were some of the effective strategies used [100]. Studies exploring adolescents' own experiences with vaccine counselling in healthcare settings would be useful.…”

“…All queries raised by the parents should be answered by HCP patiently while respecting the family beliefs and norms. In a recent review regarding HPV vaccine, it was stated that HCP can improve vaccine uptake in adolescents by overcoming their own VH through education and by acquiring skills for effective communication and by providing supportive information resources [ 36 ]. Motivation includes people’s intention, willingness, and hesitancy to get vaccinated.…”

“…However, Yahia et al found that when conducting novel, multi-faceted, and interdisciplinary HPV campaigns, it is possible to increase HPV knowledge and vaccination rates [ 8 ]. Improving accurate knowledge about HPV, resulting cancers and outcomes, and increasing vaccination uptake requires a collaborative and coordinated effort among many including parents and family members [ 4 , 14 16 ], healthcare professionals [ 17 ], adolescent boys and girls [ 15 , 18 ], and those within the recommended age guidelines for the HPV vaccine [ 5 , 19 ]. To expand the literature and encompass more adults within a range of the HPV vaccine age, we designed an HPV study to survey students, staff, and faculty at a public, state university at three-year increments between 2016 and 2022.…”
