A healthy life depends on many factors, including healthy eating, which is of great importance to people because it helps them to develop their bodies and prevent disease. During the pandemic, food consumption changed markedly among university students, affecting not only their nutritional status but also their body image, mainly due to an unbalanced diet. This change was reflected in a large part of the student population, who increased their body weight by not having a balanced diet and developed overweight and obesity. Due to this, the self-perception of each student varied, as well as being influenced by various cultural, social, individual and psychological factors, which caused them to have a positive or negative opinion depending on the case. Given this reality, it is urgent to address the issue of food, as it is necessary to make changes in the diet and promote healthy eating to ensure the health of university students and the general population. The purpose of this research was to analyse the nutritional status, the perception of body image and the healthy eating index in students of a Peruvian public university.
