Heart rate control in infants at high risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)

Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine whether and how newborns sufering from bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) d@er from their healthy peers with respect to heart rate control.Infants suffering, fiom BPD are more at risk of dying from SIDS.Linear as well as non-linear analysis was performed on sleep stage classified heart rate PHR) data. A marker of the autonomic balance the LF/HF ratio of the IHR power spectrum was calculated. To char(acterite non-linear properties the correlation d,imension and the Largest Lyap… Show more

“…They defined 0.02 to 0.2 Hz as LF band, and 0.2 to 1.5 Hz as HF band. Their result showed significant difference between these two groups of infants for LF/HF ratio in both REM and QS [MRO96].…”

“…Most of the studies focused on finding whether there is statistical difference between those two kinds of infants in HRV. The methods used include the paired Wilcoxon test [MRO96], Welch test [LEI80], two-way analysis of variance [ANT90,KLU88], and one-way analysis of variance [SCH89]. Significant differences were found in almost all of the studies, even though conflicting results also exist [ANT90,VAL88].…”
