Heat and mass transfer enhancement of the bubble absorption for a binary nanofluid

Abstract: The main objective of this study is to enhance the heat and transfer process of absorptionusing the nanofluidsas the working medium. Carbon nanotubes-ammonia nanofluids (the binary nanofluids) are prepared. The thermal conductivity of the binary nanofluids and the bubble absorption process enhancement are examined experimentally. The results show the thermal conductivity of the carbon nanotubes-ammonia nanofluid is higher 16% than that of NH/HzO solution. And the carbon nanotubes-ammonia nanofluid has a great … Show more

“…Because the absorbent of the absorption system is a binary mixture and the nanofluid is considered as a single phase fluid by the definition, the absorption medium with nanoparticles is named as binary nanofluid [8]. Kim et al [8][9][10] and Ma et al [11] found that the binary nanofluids have remarkable enhancement for ammonia bubble absorption rate by experiments. However, few theoretical and analytical investigations about bubble absorption in binary nanofluids are developed at present.…”

“…It is proven that the process of gas-liquid mass transfer can be greatly enhanced in the presence of fi ne particles, especially the nanometer size particles. [16][17][18][19][20] Jiang et al . 15 fi rst visualized dye diff usion in nanoparticle suspensions and observed that dye diff uses faster in nanoparticle suspensions compared with that in pure water.…”

“…It is also verifi ed by experiments that the gas-liquid mass transfer of NH 3 , CO, O 2 and C 3 H 8 absorption can be promoted by nanoparticles. [16][17][18][19][20] Jiang et al . 21 investigated the CO 2 chemical absorption kinetics in MEA solution with SiO 2 and Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles in bubbling absorber.…”

“…Nanofluids have greatly attracted in wide range fields application in recent years. Yu and Xie (2011) highlighted the current application of nanofluids such as heat and mass transfer enhancement (Kim et al, 2006(Kim et al, , 2007a(Kim et al, , and 2007bMa et al, 2007, and2009), friction reduction and magnetic sealing in mechanical application (Kim et al, 1999;Shen et al, 2008;Yu et al, 2008;Mitamura et al, 2008;Chen and Mao, 2010;Peng et al, 2010;and Vekas et al, 2010), and biomedical application Jalal et al, 2010; Table 1-Future potential of nanotechnology application in oil and gas industries (Kong and Ohadi, 2010) Purpose Area…”
