Abstract: Oil jet impingement cooling is the standard approach to cool high-speed high-power gears. The heat transfer between oil jets and gears is experimentally investigated in this paper. The three established methods of oil jet impingement cooling -into-mesh, out-of-mesh and inclined impingement on one of the gears- are studied.
