Abstract: InngangurÍgerð í heila er staðbundin sýking. Fyrst verður til afmörkuð heilabólga sem þróast svo á um tveimur vikum yfir í dauðan vef og samansafn af greftri sem afmarkast af vel blóðnaerðu hýði. Algengasta orsök heilaígerðar í gegnum tíðina hefur verið dreifing sýkingar frá nálaegum stöðum á höfuðsvaeði (eyrum, skútum eða tönnum) til heilans.
